Drove us down for the GW score to TQS against the 49ers. Then the defense couldn’t make a tackle.

How quickly we (and I include myself in this) forget that Brees and the offense, including the line and WR2, had earned a bye yesterday.

Whoa whoa. Don't you criticize that defense. People on here will make you believe this defense and Dennis Allen are solid.

1 seed?? Correction Brees got himself a TD record not a 1 seed not a playoff win. He barely did anything in the playoffs this season.

No. Stop giving Payton and Brees a pass for massive underachievement when it counts most

The defense holding the other team to 20 and getting a turnover should be more than enough for Drew & Co. to win a football game. Let's also not forget Drew turned it over twice and the defense still held to 20. The defense wasn't great, but they did enough.

Only people with clear vision and an understanding of the game. But who am I to not allow you to judge an entire season on one game in which we were down our starting DL and LBs.

I love how so many of you see things as either GREATEST EVER or THEY SUCK. There are many shades in between, aren't there? Or are gradients just part of an unproven theory in science?

Yet when they needed to make a critical stop to give us a chance to win they failed miserably for the 1000th time. So you keep talking about them 20 points.

I remember getting the ball back down 3 and with 3 timeouts and failing miserably to get 7. Moral of the story is the entire team played way below expectations, but this was by far Drew and the O-line's worst game and this was not even close to the defense's worst game.

Why do we always point fingers at Drew Brees and/or Dennis Allen, but

Continue to give Sean Payton a free pass?

Yep just like against the Vikings

Got us to OT and the defense lost the game.

But idiots will blame Brees

I did not make a thread about the defense or Marcus Williams yesterday because of the ones in denial. Just watch the game again and watch Williams on the two deep pass plays. First, the pass that was thrown up for grabs. Theilen looked outside along with Lattimore. Theilen adjusted and Lattimore didn't. It was literally shaded to the right of deep midfield. Williams was responsible for deep middle. He wasn't within 5 yards of the catch. That's 15+ feet. The second, the bomb in OT, the same distance. If he had ball presence, he could've picked off the first and knocked away the second. He's absolute garbage and played apart in this lost. This one is so bad. Lattimore went one with an injury and everyone knows who will be picked on. Williams should see this and shade to that side. Nope! He's too busy being Marcus. To be fair, he was the 5th or 6th issue about the debacle yesterday.

Good point, but Dennis Allen should’ve been fired alongside the rest of CSP’s buddies years ago (after 2016 iirc). Dude is a downright bad coordinator. Now we just lost one of the better coordinators in Nolan.

The defense was 13th in PPG and 11th in YPG. How many years have we heard "if the defense is a top half defense we will win." This defense was way closer to being an elite unit than the offense was. The defense gave up 20 points in the Dome in regulation, if Drew and the offense can't get us 21 points at home then we are screwed.

This

Except ....

It should be...

If SEAN PAYTON and this offense can’t get us 21 points at home then we are screwed.

Those rankings are so skewed. We played bad/injured QBs all year besides Ryan, Wilson, and Watson. Every QB that has thrown the ball deep on us has had success. Part of the reason is how piss poor Marcus Williams is. Dude is always late. But we most certainly have talent on defense, esp d-line, and we could hardly pressure Cousins, who is a god damn statue. Offense played like shite, but so did the defense, esp when it mattered. Same shite, different season.

Oh, and so much for that vaunted rush defense. Got completely owned by teams that can actually run the ball lmao.
