Make the runoff and that would solve itself on its own. May not be as much as Rispone had but it would be enough for a competent campaign that does not make mistakes like Rispone did.
He couldn’t make the runoff with Rispone in or out. He didn’t have money.

I'll disagree here and believe that you really can't logically say this when JBE never polled over 50.1 for the first round in even the most friendly polls. That is what it was always going to come down to, keeping JBE under 50.
Furthermore, Abraham was constantly polling in the low to high 30s at one point while JBE was still polling the same with Rispone not getting past 15% before late fall and Abraham ending up doing no worse than 25% in the end
Take Rispone out and Edwards easily wins. Abraham peaked around 30% early. Rispone was at 7. Give Abraham the 7 and you still haven’t cracked 40. Meanwhile Edwards with his huge war chest had every advantage. He had money, the incumbency and was a better debater.
quote:
Abraham was so doomed that he was constantly outpolling Rispone and thus Rispone was forced to go negative against Abraham at the proverbial last minute to secure a spot in the runoff but only created more problems for himself that contributed to his eventual defeat a month later.
With all sincere due respect to you, at this point, your dents against Abraham just looks like an effort to absolve Rispone from fundamental mistakes that Abraham had the good sense to avoid making.
I understand the frustration but that's a misread in my view.
Abraham was way ahead of Riispone, a novice, an unknown, but he showed up and proved that money talks. The Rispone tidal wave buried Abraham who had little to fight back with.
Give Ralph Rispone’s financing and we may be talking about Governor Abraham right now.
Riispone does have two excuses; he wasted his own time and money and he was a rookie. The state party and party leaders have no excuse, they didn’t support anyone believing Edwards was invincible and couldn’t lose.
If people would have financed Ralph he would have done much better.

Sorry but this is just not believable to me. I can’t make it any more simple than that.
The first round and the runoff are two different races and all that mattered was keeping JBE under 50% but winning that also depended on not making the fundamental mistakes that Rispone made.
quote:

That same time frame still had JBE under 50% and the runoff is a completely different race.
You’re looking this in the prism of the first round only.
quote:
Abraham was way ahead of Riispone, a novice, an unknown, but he showed up and proved that money talks. The Rispone tidal wave buried Abraham
And in doing so, Rispone created more problems for himself that would contribute to his eventual defeat.
Rispone’s biggest mistake was thinking he had enough political capital to forgive clown show mistakes and aloofness against an entrenched incumbent and a republican opponent that already had a solid voting base in North Louisiana and that was never going to work when he himself was a complete unknown that did not have a message beyond mini Trump.
quote:
Give Ralph Rispone’s financing and we may be talking about Governor Abraham right now.
Did you know that Rispone actually interviewed Abraham in late 2018 about the state election and whether or not to support him for Governor?
Rispone actually walked away from that meeting thinking he could run a better campaign than Abraham only to actually end up Ross Peroting an election away to vulnerable democrat after making fundamental mistakes Abraham never came close to making.

Good bet he’s kicking himself now over that hard pass.

We’re going in circles here so we’re going have to agree to disagree on this one.

Actually we did but a pipsqueak put up $10 million out of the chute and scared everyone off from giving to the real conservative. Said pipsqueak had zero ground game only millennial campaign advisors who sucked him dry and did nothing. They did get fan boys on places like Tiger Droppings to yeehaw and yeehaw and yeehaw.
Fact is there are a shitpile of actual business owners in Louisiana who are still pissed off at how Pipsqueak fricked things up due his big arse ego.

The morning of the Hard Rock disaster, the loose gravel from the under code, slipshod concrete mix hadn't stopped rolling down Canal St. when he was already on the scene in front of the cameras telling us to stay away from the site.
Hard Rock is such a metaphor on what's trying to run this city - and now the State.
He rang up 90% here. Even Hillary only got 89.
Am awaiting his 2nd release of prisoners - more potential loose cannons - in the next phase of his "prison reform" program.
Results from his first mass release are "inconclusive."
Only a little over 30% of them returned to crime, and only 6 of them are now up on murder charges.
And all to make our prisons seem less crowded; therefore more acceptable to other leftists around the nation that he seeks to appease.

Those business owners better wake up because that pipsqueak, his kingmaker Lane Grigsby, General Landry and Sen Kennedy are fixing to screw us again by getting into bed with a trial lawyer for Speaker. You think Get Gordon in JBE’s war room was a problem, wait until the Swamp has Sherman “Get Gordon” Mack as Speaker.
