What about using metal detectors in church

Have a security team with hand held detectors who check anyone who looks suspicious.
According to the security team from the church yesterday the shooter was a stranger, he came in wearing a obvious wig and fake beard, he had on a long coat and he was acting weird. Check that SOB with a detector in one hand with the other hand on your gun and the two church members don’t get shot.

Why not equip police with hand-held metal detectors and do random sweeps of people wherever they are?

The security guard had a detector. His bullet detected the kill spot on the shooter and eliminated the threat.

Almost everyone , esp adult males that I know are in Church, are packing. Churches down South are Policing themselves whether you know it or not....I think about 2-3 years ago, word got out about Church shootings, and Churches started signing deacons up for CC permits, and put that shite on lockdown

I think it should be stationary detectors, that everyone should walk through. Regular members have a pin or discreet decoration of some sort that signifies they are allowed to be armed. All entrance doors need to be guarded at all times.

The one who was carrying and shot first did everything wrong. He would have had a chance had he not stood straight up and slowly and visibly reach for his weapon.

I'm all for the added safety that would result in, but the cynic in me quickly moves to the cost of such, the hardware and the trained individual(s) required to man the equipment. Larger churches could absorb it I'm sure, but for medium to small....may be cost-prohibitive.

Whenever I go to the courthouse, it's a pretty quick walkthrough. You don't have to remove your shoes.
If you are a regular member of the church, you could wear a certain decorative pin, that allows you to walk right through, even if armed.

I understand everything you said, but after watching that video it hit me “why did any on the security team have to die?”. This just showed you can have a security team that will minimize deaths in the event of a shooter but be prepared for the security team to give up a few members. I say do more

No kidding. Same discussions every time there’s a school shooting, how can we turn our schools into miserable little fortresses and then talk about them being "soft targets" etc. like you said shite happens but to go through life scared all the time seems nuts to me.

What safety? Shoot the guy holding a metal detector to you and ta da system infiltrated. All it would be is an unnecessary hassle to stop a largely nonexistent threat.

When you sign up to follow Jesus you do so knowing that hatred for Him may result in your death. It’s part of the deal. I don’t want metal detectors and check your guns at the door, I’d rather that I and a half dozen other parishioners be armed.
