25 year Ford Parts/service manager here, I know a little bit about the 2.7. It’s a fine engine for an everyday driver. They don’t like to work hard everyday, but very few work their F150’s very hard. I would not hesitate to buy one with 100k on it if it has been maintained properly. If you like the truck, buy it.

My dad has had one for a few years. He actually pulls a camper with it with no problems. I drove it once and was sceptical but the little engine hauls arse. I would buy the v8 personally but for my dad he loves it.

Not much of a truck guy, but for the sedans and sports cars I buy I'll take boost over displacement any time. A naturally aspirated engine is a compromise compared to one with a turbo, or even one with a supercharger.
You do have to buy decent gas, change your oil correctly, and let your engine warm up if you want it to last.

Have exact make and model. Been a great truck for me. Had the tranny reset early on nothing of note last 3 years. Drives like a sports car it’s a rocket w that turbo. Get 20 city 22 hiway.

2015 XLT Sport with a 2.7 EcoBoost.
I was surprised by the amount of power.

Get the V8. A small turbo V6 like that has no place in an F150.
The wear on that engine by forcing that much air into it to power >4500 lbs of truck is immense
This person doesn't know a thing.

Neighbor has an Ecoboost powered Raptor.
Dunno if the exhaust is aftermarket on it but that thing sounds laughably bad.

I drive an Eco but I've heard some guys with Flowmasters on them. Just don't. If that's what you want buy a V8. It sounds ridiculous.

Didn’t have a choice but my employee issued truck is a 2019 Lariat with the 2.7 and is 4x4. I don’t tow anything with it so couldn’t opine about that. As an everyday driving truck, I am very happy with it. Especially the acceleration and pick up compared to the 2014 I had before.

I have the 5.0V8 and I wish I would have bought the 2.7. Yes, I just said that.
The 5.0 is a high-strung engine, and it actually feels slow at low rpm, normal driving. The 2.7 makes more torque down low and "feels" faster.

I think if you plug in something to the trailer plug (like a hitch light) it cuts off the dying at a stop shite.
Heard good things about it from the few people I know with it.

I have a 2016 Lariat 3.5 Ecoboost with 150k miles. I’ve only changed spark plugs and a ball joint.

I only replied to you because I was laughing so much.
If you want to haul groceries, garbage and girls buy an ecoboost.

Well, he came out of a Ridgeline so he's kinda new to the truck thing.

Well I haul a 5000 lb boat and a 17’ trailer loaded with side by sides and 4 wheelers.

20 miles or less?

Boat gets pulled over 100 miles each way a few times a year, under 100 about 20 times a year
The 17’ trailer gets pulled 300+ miles each way 5-6 times a year.

You said SxS and Quads. What is your mileage with them, they aren't as aero, nor aqua dynamic on the road.

Yeah my boat weighs 5000 lbs
The 17’ trailer with a Side By Side and 2or3 four wheelers I’ll get around 7-15 mpg depending on where I’m going and hills or flat roads.
