Let’s talk Clemson D.....

I’ve asked in several threads because I feel like I’m taking crazy pills, I simply don’t see an elite unit.
They lost like 13 of their 14 two deep in their front 7, including all those 1st rounders on the DL (which is why they beat Bama so bad). They also lost Mullen in the secondary too, remember him?
OSU isn’t as good as us upfront and they pushed them around plenty. Dobbins was getting like 9 yards a touch, they win if he doesn’t get hurt. They also couldn’t get pressure w 4, if they blitz burrow like they did fields, they’re fricked.
Their WRs beat their guys on plenty of balls too, they aren’t as good as our WRs either.
Im not trying to be overconfident or arrogant, can someone just show me some evidence of their 2019 greatness on D?

Yeah and I think this is all pretty obvious that is why I do not understand why people are believing everything ESPN is forcing down their throats so they can hype a game to get ratings. We win easily with Brennen playing the 4th quarter. Mark it down

Most are making this game out to be “Burrow vs Lawrence” when in reality it is “Aranda vs Venables”
This game is much more evenly matched than we think. Our WRs give us the edge IMO

Kayvon Wallace and Isaiah Simmons are ballers and Xavier Thomas is their best lineman. Tanner Muse is the weak link of the defense and Skalinski has good skills but is slow (Ben Boulware type). They can be picked on easily, especially with our group. If we avoid the blitz we roll on offense. They’re not as good as Georgia on defense. Buddy of mine at work is a SC high school ref, he does all their practices so I have a lot of insight as to the players etc. no, I’m not an insider or any of that shite. We just talk football a lot and he gives me the scoop on what he sees etc. I’m pretty familiar with the Clemson program as I have lived here for several years.

I do not agree with this. Even if we are up by 40 points, Burrow will take the knee to end the game in victory formation.

I see the same... zero difference makers on the Los

Simmons is a stud for sure, you gotta think he’s gonna spy CEH and/or Burrow right?
Wallace is also good but I question how good he is against elite talent. Even if he takes away chase or Jefferson, what about everybody else running wide open?
Thanks for your post, awesome stuff, what else ya got???

They will stunt and bring tons of pressure. Several teams tried this and it hasn’t worked yet. If they’re can’t get pressure with 4, look out.
Venables is a great coach and will have a great plan. They just don’t have the horses that they did last year up front.

He’s going to blitz a lot because he has to, again, no difference makers in the front 4.

Everyone seems to be worried about Etienne but he’s not been dominant against the better teams for the most part. His biggest games generally come against lesser talent and he is more of a threat as a receiver. Lyn-J Dixon is the better back and is also a threat receiving. He has been underutilized for the most part this season, but Amari Rodgers is a threat to go all the way every down. We control the short game and we will dominate them. Have to make the tackles in space to prevent big plays. Trevor is not a “great” passer. If you watch his tape he misses some throws kinda like Fields but not quite as bad as Fromm.

To answer your ? . After getting down ten points in the first six minutes....Clemson's defense forced six punts , two interceptions , dropped two interceptions, sacked the qb four times and only gave up a touchdown on a desperate 4th down play against the number one scoring offense in the country .

How many of those sacks came w just the 4?
Dropped INTs? Not a thing. Red zone D is tough, I’ll give them that.
Does anyone really think OSU has a better offense than LSU??

I don’t question their offense, I know it’s good.
It’s the defense that’s getting way too much credit IMO.

Not me . Burrow won't miss the throws that Fields did . Although I did see him miss a throw on a td pass the other night after he threw for 400 yards and 7 tds early in the game .
