How many top 10 teams did those programs play during the season? I mean we can find some Hawaii or BSU squads that had gawdy numbers when they played weak comp. I think LSU played 11 bowl eligible teams this year. That says something.

'95 Nebraska played 4 top 10 teams and the closest margin of victory was 23 points... so yeah

Since you didn't, I've done the homework for you . . .

1995 Nebraska
vs #8 Kansas St (Lincoln) W 49-25 - KSU finished #7
vs #7 Colorado (Boulder) W 44-21 - CU finished #5
vs #10 Kansas (Lawrence) W 41-3 - KU finished #9
vs #2 (AP) / #2 (Coaches) Florida (National Championship, Fiesta Bowl) W 62-24

2001 Miami
vs #13 Florida St (Tallahassee) W 49-27 - FSU finished #15
vs #15 Syracuse (Miami) W 59-0 - SYR finished #14
vs #11 Washington (Miami) W 65-7 - UW finished #10
vs #4 (AP) / #2 (BCS) Nebraska (National Championship, Rose Bowl) W 37-14

95 Nebraska beat 4 teams that finished* in the top 10 by 24, 23, 38, 38. The last one was Florida 62-24, basically what LSU beat OU by this year and 95 Florida > 19 OU.

These things are better judged with the passage of time. At the time no one was really saying that about 95 Nebraska and 2001 Miami is as much about the sheer # of NFL guys they had rather than their dominance
