You could probably make a much more competent argument than me because of your understanding of the law but property rights really are the linchpin of a free society. Without it any object or paper asset that you own is subject to confiscation at any time via the force of government.

for a very easy example, just think about the major changes in societies when merchant classes emerged. even in very structured societies (like Rome or Medieval Europe), when a merchant class emerges, everything changes. you have to be a Barry Lyndon to frick that up
