birds probably dropped seed in your garden, from a wild plant somewhere. You’ll probably want to pick all the fruit so that it doesn’t reseed next year or just pull it out

we called them smell melons when we were kids but as others have said I think it’s actually a wild squash

Are those the same as coyote melons? They look like what my grandpa used to call coyote melons. He called them that because apparently coyotes like them.
