Im not joking when I say this.
The performance of the 401k has serious turned a young millennial paraprofessional in my office. She wasn't Antifa level, but she supported Obama and went to Hillary campaign rallies.
Last year, I helped her set up her 401k (technically a 403b in our world). This year I have helped her learn how the market works, guided her to make non-retirement investments through Wealthfront, and have snuck in the wonders of capitalism along the way.
About October, she read something on Twitter and came and asked me point blank - are we making these good returns because of Trump? I answered that while there is a lot more to it than who is the president, his economic policies have really helped. People are working and people are spending money and saving.
She confided in me that she was starting to understand that the most vocal anti-Trump people she knew were losers in life. Still lived with their parents/worked service industry jobs, etc. This "adulting" with the 401k had turned her from a Hillary shill to "I wish he'd stop tweeting but I'm voting for him."

Weird how there's a new thread every time the dow is up a point but none when it's down a point.
Weird how every GDP/unemployment report during the Obama administration was later "revised" negatively. Every report that they touted as positive, in reality, after the true numbers came out, were lies.
But by then, people had forgotten about them. Not me.
I didn't believe them since they were heavily politicized bullshite from a deceitful administration.
