I think his comment meant well and he is correct. I gave to Athens and I always give to BR and my kids do community service with Baton Rouge Food Bank so we know the need. I believe he meant charity begins at home not knocking Athens.

Regardless as someone else posted the North Shore Food Bank and requested people support it in addition to Athens so all of us on here that are able support what we can and just don’t forget about your own neighbors who may not be able to or too embarrassed to come forward and admit they need a bit of a helping hand.

And to everyone in this thread I recommend reading J.D. Vance’s Hillbilly Elegy a 2016 NY Times bestseller. A great book about this exact subject and this exact location. Soon to be a Ron Howard movie.
