You want to play pro ball? Don't go to a Service Academy, and take away an appointment from some kid who wants to serve.

Agree...this is an unnecessary exec order. Who the hell goes to a service academy as an avenue to pro ball considering that they know the rules?

I got an educational delay to go to med school.

I guess they could have made me serve my obligation and I could have used GI bill for med school.

This is a rare program and probably positive for everyone.

It will be 3 to 7 players per decade most likely.

The rule has been changed, I think the rule is forward looking, the academies may now be able to get some better athletes. Not that that is the point of the service academies, but if we are going to clog it up with women and soy boys, some Div I athletes can't hurt.

Not many but occasionally the opportunity sneaks up on you.

Shame to tell a guy he can’t pursue playing a sport he loves for a half mil plus a year because he HAS to serve.

Might even see more guys that have an outside shot go to the academy and end up being great in their service when the odds catch up and they aren’t in the league after their 4 years
