You have motivated an analogy. I have a friend who is 50 pounds overweight. He will not stick to a reasonable diet. So, maybe we should all pray that he gets a massive heart attack. If he survives he will start eating healthier.

Not a good intentional strategy, but it’s true some people do have to hit rock bottom before they will wake up and stop abusing drugs or over eating.
There actually are people who just want to speed up the collapse of the whole government so we can start over too. Also a bad intentional strategy as long as society is still too stupid/ignorant to replace it with something better.
