Doctors not allowed to give flu shots to migrant children

What are your thoughts on this?
Personally, it doesn't seem to make much sense. Flu shots are pretty much given away anyway. You can get a free one at most drug stores.
Is there some real harm in letting them get the flu vaccine?

"People die of the flu, but the people who have died of the flu in CPB custody, it was completely preventable,” Dr. Julie Sierra said. “Keeping people in hygienic conditions and not overcrowding them and giving them soap and access to showers, that can help prevent illness. But nothing prevents the flu like a flu vaccine.”
At least three children in U.S. immigration custody died from flu infections during the 2018 flu season. That’s nine times the mortality rate of the general pediatric population, according to Doctors for Camp Closure.

It's a local news outlet from South Carolina
I suppose it might take some additional research
Are you usually this immediately skeptical or just when you hear something that makes you uncomfortable?

What difference does it make?

What if we just give them the flue instead? This should make the social-prog filth happy...

It sounds bad since you have no context. A group of 20 random doctors and nurses protesting showed up wanting to inject an unknown substance into detainees there. Any world you think they are going to give a green light on that?
The reason vaccination isn’t in place is the kids are there only 72 hours usually and if remaining in longer term detention they will often be vaccinated

it would be insanely irresponsible for federal officials to allow people they haven't vetted to administer medicine they haven't vetted.

local media is normally better; but I would bet anthing that there is more to this story
take it for what it is worth, but I was one of the 1st to comment here about the "smirking boy" story by saying that I thought there was likely more to the story
I got a lot of downvotes, but it turned out to that a racist Indian was harassing children
I need to see more than a story from NBC before I jump in and express outrage

In this particular instance I don't believe it's important

That makes sense
Why not just have them vaccinated at their first stop though? Wouldn't that make more sense?
They have the potential to get other people including the people working in these camps sick.

Doesn't mean it's a good idea not to get one though

Not when you're talking about access to simple human rights

Can’t bring in all these kids with new autism...

Flu shots are not like Tetanus or MMR.
As mentioned, most Americans don't get them.
It's been most effective in healthy adults.
I don't remember ever getting a flu shot as a child or young adult as they were seen as something marketed toward the elderly.

How could you disappoint us like this?
