Not to atl. I have taken the Amtrak from Hammond to Chicago though. It's actually pretty damn cool tbh. It's a cool experience for sure and I would recommend you taking the Amtrak if you've never done it before. They have a bar car where you can drink and they have a restaurant car where they serve you meals. The food was actually pretty damn good lol. I had a blast on my trip and I'm sure you would too. Do it!

Not sure if the restaurant car is still in service.

Also, the Atlanta Amtrak station is up where 75/85 splits. You'll need to arrange transportation to hotel and/or stadium.

Wave when you pass through Birmingham.

I can speak to the train ride. It is a lot of fun. Just need to be patient when it stops several times at some small stations. It’s still much, much better than driving yourself.

Doesn't it take a lot longer than driving?

I've taken it round trip. It's a good trip. Not nearly as stressful as air travel. Get the small sleeper room.

I was just curious looking around and it’s a 7am from New Orleans and arrive in Atlanta at 7:35pm.

Yeah, no thanks

Check carefully the train timetable. It takes much longer than you expect.

I've done it. It's a cool experience. If you have time and are not an impatient person, it's an interesting way to travel back in time, the way people used to get around.

No. I went from Atl to New Orleans..took almost 12 hours and stopped a dozen times. The food is crap, service even worse...government run and employees who could care less. Plus the rail lines are not owned by Amtrak and if a freight is coming, the AmtraK pulls off at designated side rails and you wait. There is no scenery unless you like looking at the backside of small towns enroute. I would not advise it unless you just hate driving. The rails are not like Asian or European speed rails..they are freight rails and rough from heavy USE.

it does take longer the only advantage is that you can sleep instead of drive and as a previous poster stated it does have nice scenery
