A square pole ? I don’t think you are gonna like the results of that.
i have a router so i can round over the edges very nicely
i made a 8ft rigid dip net handle for crabbing from a 2x2 with router rounded corners. it fits and fells very secure in the hand even though its a completely different use then a push pole
