Just one bite” rat poison is your answer. You need to keep some in the attic also as prevention.

What happens when the die in the attic and you can’t find them?

I have a rat in my attic that I can’t seem to get with a snap trap or glue trap.

You must set a dozen Victor snap traps. Use the older Victor brand traps and bait them with peanut butter. Also use the 1 bite poison, in bait stations so pets don't encounter it. Place it underneath home if home is elevated, place near where rats and mice are entering the home. Rats in the attic must leave and return in search for food. The one bite poison should kill them before they can return back to the attic. I do my own pest control using the products below. They work.

Here's a pet/child pet resistant station with bait.

Here's the refill bait. Has Bromethalin. Fast Kill to mice and rats.

i e always been told they will leave the attic and go looking for water as they died. I don’t know if that is true

I have kept rat poison in my attics over the years and have never had a mouse.

I just grab some every few years and pitch it around the attic. In all this time I have had one bite taken out of one.

It smells, then smells bad and then gets better over time.
