You can assure no one of anything. I’ve been robbed at gun point twice in the last five years and my apartment broken into. I live north of Jeff Davis. The robbers were relatively polite except for that fact they pointed a gun at me. The first let me keep my favorite penny that I’ve kept in my wallet since ninth grade. The second listened while I recited the Sermon on the Mount.

I always chuckle when Uptowners and MidCityers get defensive about living in the suburbs. What makes these neighborhoods urban? It’s no less a suburb than Metairie.

The lots are smaller than out in Metairie or Arabi, Chalmette, etc.

Anything that is NOT the French Quarter started out as either plantations, farm-land, or swamp, and thus became suburbs.

Anything along the Carrollton corridor, save for Hollygrove and Gert Town should be OK. For the poster asking about Oak Street, you have to look at how far off of Carrollton Avenue you are looking.
