I just don't see how this can be argued.

We take children who are being beaten by their parents. Yes, this creates a new need where one wasn't needed before. But, we consider this new need to be worth getting abused children away from abusers.

Failing to feed your child is abuse.

Initially, absolutely.

But, you'd very quickly send the message that babies aren't meal tickets and, people really do react to such stimuli. You would have fewer meal ticket seeking parents.
