Great read.?we see this all the time especially at the college level and not just football but other sports as well. It takes a very special coach to see beyond the so called 5 star ratings and rankings.

From the SI article:
Burrow went to Ohio State instead, where he sat on the bench for three seasons. When he decided to transfer as a redshirt junior, Nebraska, mired in a dismal stretch, could have landed him again. The Cornhuskers passed. When asked about Burrow at the time, Nebraska coach Scott Frost said, “You think he’s better than what we got?”
Ummmm...let's see:
Nebraska finished 4-8 in 2018 and it's looking like 5-7 this year.

Fortunately for LSU, Scott Frost sucks at judging talent.

quote:
Joe Burrow attracts 30 #NFL scouts to #LSU's facility each week, including that one time a GM and 7 scouts sat in a room analyzing his film. From Tom Brady comparisons to more doubters... "He doesn't have a big arm. Who cares?"

Great article! Geaux Joe!

Makes me wish we’d played Nebraska this year

This is awesome.
quote:
Matt Porter is in a state of disbelief too. Back in June, Porter, an LSU fan living in Fort Lauderdale, put $50 on Burrow to win the Heisman Trophy at 200-to-1 for a potential payout of $10,000. When Burrow became a serious contender, in late October, Porter’s gambling outlet offered him $3,865.38 to cash out. He passed.

Other thread didn't get any traction so reposting this:
What does this even mean? He's got a perfect QB body
He's 6'4" 220 lbs, has good muscle mass, and runs well. Why do people keep regurgitating this? It's the opposite of the truth.
quote:
“I think he’s got the real chance of being the No. 1 overall pick, but it’s still hard to convince some people because a guy doesn’t have the great body or great arm,” says one NFL scout. “He’s not a prototype guy from those standpoints. Maybe the NFL should change its prototype.”

Scott Frost and Les Miles must have gone to the same QB Evaluation Clinic

If there is a better story ever in college football, I’d like to hear it.
