I saw an article on 247 about Eric Taylor keeping his “options open”. Is he our next decommit?

Probably not gonna switch from a 3-4

Although Burch would eat in a 4-3

I’m hoping we can keep a guy like him. I was watching film and he looks like he moves really well for his size. Although I’m not sure the level of competition he is up against

We should be in a 4-3 now, lbs are fair and we need to apply QB pressure to limit safeties being exploited

It is interesting that Aranda’s early D’s at LSU were more 4-3 due to personnel. All you heard was how he wanted to transition to a 3-4. Now he’s got his 3-4 with an NFL nose tackle, Lber depth, and 3 future 1st round DB’s and they are significantly worse.

Plenty of NFL talent on this defense. It’s been a head scratcher that they haven’t been better. Lack of consistent pass rush from front only thing I can point to. Seems to be biggest piece missing.

Thing is, a consistent up-front pass rush will make any scheme work.

It solves a lot of ills for sure.

Safety play and no QB pressure is why

I've always hated Arandas 3-4

Wish they would switch to a 4-3
I see why he ran it at whisky and other places but with the talent at Lsu just wish he would switch it up

If we were in a 4-3 now where would you play Chaisson? See?
It doesn’t matter if you’re 4-3 or 3-4. What matters is what personnel you put on the field. Aranda likes having hybrid players so he can do lot’s of things without changing personnel and tipping off the offense. On one play Chaisson will put his hand in the dirt, and viola! We are in a 4-3. On the next play he’ll stand up on the outside, and we’re in a 3-4.

Please give details bc this post makes no sense. An odd front defense is so much more versatile. And outside of the Ole Miss game our run D has been pretty good. Our weakness this year has been our safeties and nickel in pass coverage. Going to a 4-3 won’t make that better.

But ... Chaisson is very inconsistent with his pressure. He tries to use his speed to get into backfield but has been pushed 10 yards past, with that loses contain and the QB is off to the races

Well Ed O said the other day that TK McClendon is going to be a stud next season on the defensive line cause he is like already up to 270 pounds right now and can run a sub 4.8 in the forty.

Don't forget about Jarrell Cherry if he sticks around. He's about 270 pounds now also and probably a little faster than McClendon.

Meanwhile, Soni Fonua at outside linebacker who came into LSU at about 275 pounds is currently an outside linebacker. Which means that he is also very fast for his size. They've redshirted him this season, but I am looking for him to also be moved to the DL at about 285 to 290 pounds cause of his size, speed, and athleticism.

So there are three big and fast guys right there that should be able to contribute significantly along the defensive line for next season.

He only got suckered on that one play. Let's not crucify him forever for one play. Everyone makes bad plays on occasion.

Despite his lack of success in the pass rush department, overall he has been a very good player this season.

Had the coaches not said he would break the all-time sack record before the season started, nobody would be complaining about his pass rush struggles today.

Meanwhile, the dude is probably going to be a first-round or high second round pick.

Not blaming him or crucifying. He's also coming off a serious knee injury. It was just an observation, just need consistent pressure from whole line to help secondary

I'm not saying don't run a 3-4 sometimes but he needs to switch it up more.
Queen is always in the wrong spot.
4-3 is much more straight forward

Yes, and he has also been moved to the defensive line. Ed O said he will be a stud on the DL next season.
