re: Based on similarities with OSU 2018, LSU's defensive problems are probably scheme-related

If you want to see carbon copies of Ole Miss game, watch OSU v Oregon State or Maryland, two weak teams that gashed OSU. OSU brought in new coaches and fixed the problems, much in the same way that LSU hired Brady and fixed its offensive problems.
That doesn't mean it was a scheme problem.
A lot of what I saw (not everything) didn't appear to be scheme-related. It was mostly players either not making plays when the scheme had them in the right position or it was players not correctly executing the scheme. (I say "didn't appear to" because as fans we can't know for sure what a given player's assignment is. However, you know that Dave Aranda isn't going to decide to just not defend the backside.)
New coaches can fix that by either finding new ways to teach the players what their assignments are or by dumbing down the scheme so that their players can better understand their assignments.

I was saying something very similar with different terminology. Either the scheme/coaching (they are inter-related most of the time) is not up to par or there is a lack of talent. (which I would find to be very unlikely)
