re: CADs new obsession - buying & modding 1up cabinets to support full MAME library

i have an evel kennivel pinball machine at my parent's house that i was able to get working for maybe..6 months

the amount of work required to keep the mechanical parts working on something that is bumped around and has so many pop-up parts on is insane. i don't see how arcades ever made any money off these.

having said that, dam the best of both worlds would be to find your 'dream' pinball machine and simply add the 'virtual' overlay (2 large monitors and some buttons) when you wanted choice but i can't see much of a market for that.
