Grant Delpit isn’t a 5* or first round athlete at present, Stingley is about 85%, Fulton can’t outrun Trask, Lawrence is about 65%, Logan is hurt, Vincent is hurt and Divinity, Harris, Joseph, Thomas, Anthony aren’t here anymore.

Maybe. Ohio State and Clemson have yet to play anyone. So from my point of view the biggest difference in statistics is the schedule. If Ohio State and Clemson had played four ranked teams the stats would be different.
Yes LSU defense should be better. We have a below average to average defensive line. And have been in that condition for four or five years.. not new.

And while LSU is strong at CB, they are average at S.

"play bend, don’t break and keep everything in front of you.""
Saturday night there were quite a few times that everything was behind them!
There is a difference between bend not break and giving up several long touchdowns. We all love that the team has earned being 10-0. I think the consensus with a lot of folks here is that its a little scary going into the playoffs with a defense that looked like it did this past weekend. Its a legitimate concern.

1. LSU has played a lot of really good offenses. In today's game, because of recent rule changes and trends in officiating, good offense beats good defense. For example, you would not say that LSU has played nothing but bad defenses, yet they've lit up every one of them.
quote:I don’t argue the 2nd half letdown angle, but it’s on the coaches to not let that happen. Thanks for making my point for me!
2. LSU's offense is so good that LSU builds comfortable leads early in almost every game. Three teams that lit up LSU's defense, Texas, Alabama and Mississippi, trailed at halftime 20-7, 33-13, and 31-7. Everyone of those games had the feel of being over at halftime. This operates psychologically on both teams. LSU tends to let up, and their opponent tends to let it all hang out. When teams dominate crappy teams this doesn't come into effect, but good teams have the talent to rally.

We just have to be patient. Aranda is a genius and he'll figure it out at some point. Just give it time.

quote:bullshite excuse. We have 4 and 5 stars on our Dline. They are much better players then the are showing. 120 D1 teams would kill to have our Dline. Coaching is responsible.

LSU did fine shutting down Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss in the first half.
and then we played a second half. Lets face it, our offense is so good we overcame the "issues". We've had three games this year that we had to recover onside kicks to assure a win. With the way the offense played, these games should have been blowouts. Its legitimate to feel a little concerned. And btw, it would be nice to get Burrow out of some of these games a little earlier and the defense is simply not allowing that to happen.

You've been one of the most negative posters on this site for years.
That's a load of crap, but whatever floats your boat.

I'm not calling for Aranda to be fired, but I I'm not going to pretend that the D doesn't have issues.
Cool, I never said you did or that the D doesn't have issues.
quote:
You don't think giving up the most points, yards and yards per play since 2001 is a concern. 30.7 points average allowed vs P5 opponents.
I never said it wasn't a concern. But you can't just look at it in a vacuum without acknowledging how the offensive game has changed. You also need to look at it situational.
quote:\
Why did Stevens say the D was horrible? Why has O brought up the D issues including missed assignments and poor tackling? They must hate LSU.
I mean, if you just want to play the victim card and not actually talk, that's cool too.

Worked for coach O and the offense...
