And there are Independents like me, former Reaganite type Republican who has never supported a DEM at the Presidential Level. Although, even as a Reaganite Republican, I supported John Breaux, J.B. Johnston, etc for Senator. I voted for Republicans in every Local Baton Rouge Election in the primary save Governor. So I will vote for JBE.

Just curious...why are you supporting JBE?

I honestly think he is better for the state than Rispone. Rispone quite frankly is a political hack. The use of the term "Liberal" to describe JBE is laughable, as if he is the same as Sanders, Warren, Pelosi, Schumer, etc, etc. He has been way better for LSU than Jindal, who I voted for twice. Jindal got us in this mess when he killed the Stelly plan which was promoted by Governor Foster (REP) and Stelly himself (Republican) and approved by the voters. What does Jindal do, against this better judgment, he, not by himself, but he is largest culprit, killed the Stelly plan and he did it at a time when LA was flush with Oil Money. In fact, in Jindal's first 4 years, Oil Revenues were providing almost 20% of LA's total revenues, highest since the 45% or so during the end of Edwin Edwards tenure and Treen's tenure. He did away with the cigarette tax, which LA had the lowest in the country at the time because as Jindal stated, not allowing a tax expire that is on the books is in effect a tax raise. I am 53 years old and in effect what Jindal did was bring us back to the Edwards era when Oil revenues funded everything and nobody had to pay taxes for essential services, i.e. infrastructure, Universities, education, etc. etc.

So to blunt, the Bush, Dick Cheny, John Bolton, Donald Rumsfield NeoCon Republicans, of which Jindal is a part of as it was Bush that appointed Jindal to a position in his Government and Jindal's 8 year tenure as Governor finally caused me to tell the Republican party at the National level to go to hell, I had long ago told the National Dems to go to hell. Rispone may be a good at his business, but he comes across to me as an idiot and a political hack and he is a Jindal Sycophant.

JBE has the backing of the LA Sherriffs assocation, Law Enforcment. It is always interesting when I hear the National Republican talking heads say "We love our Police" with the implication that Liberal Dems don't, Well, he has the backing from Law Enforcement. Every Catholic Pro-Life group I follow gives him an 100% Pro-Life Record. Jindal went around acting holier than thou and never did crap on that one. He has a 100% 2nd Amendment rating as a DEM. Billy Nungesser, the LT Governor, has a lower 2nd amendment rating than JBE and he is a Republican.

So for Governor, I don't give a crap about DEM and REP because JBE on the issues I care about is as conservative as Ronald Reagan. He got the state out of the budget mess that Jindal put us in and I actually think he is less divisive for the broad cross section of voters. There are lots of good things going on in Louisiana right now with LSU and the Saint. I think JBE, more so than Rispone, is better able to bring Catholic/Protestant or no religion, White/Black, City/Rural, South LA, Central LA, North LA together than Rispone who is using the same tactics that both National DEMS and REPS use at Presidential level
