Are you just using statistics as justification for this statement? Sure there's crime in Richmond but where the Siegal Center is located is not in a crime ridden shithole as you say. The whole area where it's located is catered towards the students. VCU is a spread out campus with mostly off campus housing and that area is where many of the students roam. The university basically owns the downtown because of the hospital.
The venue is small but that helps the environment in there. Similar to Duke which is also tiny. Havoc, as they call it is one of the better crowds there is in college basketball.

This is their Super Bowl? What a stupid statement. Over the last 10 years who has made more noise in the ncaa tournament? You think playing a team they just knocked out of the top 25 is their super bowl? They were up for this game because of CWW, yes. But this is FAR from their super bowl. Their goal is the same as ours. To make the tournament.

Can confirm. Housing prices have steadily increased between VCU and the hospital and crime has noticeably decreased since the 90s/early 2000s. Young professionals, doctors, med school students, and residents have been moving into Jackson Ward & Monroe Ward for a good five years now.
How does the Siegel Center compare to the Robins Center? I've only gone to see UR basketball games and I thought their arena was large enough for some loud crowds.

Robins Center underwent a multi million dollar renovation a few years back where they actually pulled out a couple thousand seats. It now seats less than VCU Siegel Center but is nicer. It's also very quiet. They're locked in a contract with a very mediocre coach and their local fan base is on the older side.
VCU spent their money on a $25M practice facility that by most objective viewpoints is one of the best in the country.
