'74 alum looking for some advise and information

I live in Central Texas between Waco and Austin.I am surrounded by Aggies, Longhorns and delusional Bears. I was born in East Texas but grew up in Northwest Louisiana. Although I may be a native born Texan, Cajun Blood flows in my veins.
I first attended LSU in the fall of 1969 and I graduated from LSU in May 1974. ( I squeezed four years into five) I took a job in Houston after graduation. I earned a JD from UofH Law in 1983 and I have resided in Texas ever since.
I am a die hard Tiger and will be till the day I die.
The first LSU football game (vs Ole Miss) I ever attended was in October 1959 (sixty years ago) and the last LSU game I attended was the Texas A&M game in 1989. (thirty years ago). I would guess that I have either watched on television or listened to on the radio 95% of all of the Football games the Tigers have played over the past 60 years.
A good friend has gifted me two tickets for the Nov 30 game against the Aggies. I will be bringing my son in law ( a two degree Aggie graduate)
We will be arriving in Baton Rouge on Friday night.
I have a few questions:
Assuming it is a night game. What time should we arrive on campus (to take in all of the excitement)?
Where is best place to try to find a parking place?
Can you still sneak whiskey in your boots?
Where is best place to go on Friday night? Looking for good food and a cool bar etc.
Where are the best tailgates located?
I am thinking I can use my son in law as Tiger Bait and then I can say something like “Hey man what ya’ll eating and drinkin?”
Seriously I am really looking forward to this. It has been so long since I have been on campus. Although I am an alum, I still do not want to look like a tourist.Any assistance will be appreciated.

After thanksgiving weekend be there by 930 just to get a parking spot unless you want to hike in.

I am sure you remember the Pastime Lounge. Bring him there for a beer or 3.

Friday- Louisiana Lagniappe
Saturday- the Chimes, the Pastime
Park by noon (no easy answer without a pass, but I’d probably just pay $20 and park in somebody’s yard on N Nicholson)
Tailgating is good all over. Hit the RV lot along Nicholson at S. Stadium. You’ll be welcomed anywhere.
Visit the Tiger, watch the band come down the hill, get in the stadium at least 30 minutes early.
I sneak booze into every game without issue.

NWLA to CenTX transplant here too. Prob closer to your SIL’s age.
And I’m also coming over for Aggie game.
I got tix to the Missouri State basketball game Friday night—7 pm, I believe—if y’all arrive in time for that. Then hit Chimes or Walk-Ons.
Saturday I have to split some time between a few tailgates, but my “basecamp” will be out of my cousins’ tailgate just the far side of Indian Mounds. Real friendly folks—just tell them you got an invite from some MacMurray kin.
And YES on the whiskey.
Geaux Tigers!

If you have to park near the Union and/or parade ground, you are cordially invited to our tailgate. We're across from the tower on the parade ground before you get to the war memorial. It's a great spot to begin tailgating as you work your way to the stadium.
Enjoy and Geaux Tigers !!!

Hell make a day of it. Get there no later than 11 a.m.
We park near the Student Rec Center behind the Phi Mu sorority house (end of Sorority Row on Lakeshore Drive - take Acadian exit to Stanford to Lakeshore.)
Can you still sneak whiskey in your boots?
Not sure but I wouldn't try it..
Where is best place to go on Friday night? Looking for good food and a cool bar etc.
Superior Grill, Phil's, Walk-Ons, Ruffino's, Pastime
Where are the best tailgates located?
Parade Grounds, near Indian Mounds, behind the Union facing Ag Center, along Dalrymple on campus..

You haven't attended a single game in 30 years? It's a bit of a stretch to call yourself a die hard. Enjoy the game and welcome back tiger.

Three main strings to venture through.
Start at UHigh/Law School, go to Chimes, walk down from Dalrymple to the Indian Mounds and down to the PMAc
Start at the Ag Center and walk down South Stadium, circle through the Parade Grounds and down to TS from the Quad
Last saunter though Touchdown Village where the RV's are if you know somebody out there.
Any one of those paths will take you hours to mosey through
Also there is a lot of activity around the PMAC, Bernie Moore, and the Fieldhouse

I think it'll be a great homecoming for you!
Texas A&M will be the last game of the year so it should be packed. When Florida came to town, the old front nine (free lot near my tailgate) was full by 6:30 am. Auburn, lots were full by 9:00. For A&M, I'm guessing somewhere in between. Hayfield lots will be available but it's a bit of a walk. My recommendation is to get there by 8:00 am. Check the Gameday Parking Map and decide where you want to park. (Just Google LSU Gameday Parking 2019 for the map. You can download a PDF version of it too.)
Get there EARLY!
.
Explore the campus and see what's new since the last time you were there. Stop in random tailgates and let people know you graduated in '74 and it's your first time back since '89, ask the best route to get to xxx (make something up) and chat a bit, they'll offer you food and drink I'm sure!
Check out the new Mike Tiger cage (I don't think the current one was constructed prior to '89, though could be wrong).
Good Luck!

In my experience, this is a late crowd and poorly attended.
