Conference champion or “unequivocal” top 4?

Is this actual mandate of committee?
If so, there is no freakin way a 1-loss Alabama gets in above 1-loss Oregon/Utah or 1-loss OU.

Please explain your rationale here. It would stand to reason that if OU loses another regular season game, they are done, even if they win the Big XII. The same would seem to be true for Oregon or Utah. Bama at 11-1 would likely go ahead of a 11-2 PAC XII or Big XII champ.

The biggest thing people forget is in 2011, when Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State is there wasn't a Big 12 title game. So 11-1 Bama was deemed

Even knowing it would likely eventually come back to bite LSU, I am still firmly of the mindset that you should have to win your conference to be in consideration for a national championship.
That would take so much subjectivity out of it - the only subjective decision, as long as it stays at 4, would be which champ to leave out.
Which is why my dream setup is 6 with 1 and 2 getting byes and the highest rated G5 team getting the 6th slot.
