This doesn't happen as much as you want to believe it does.

Uh... I have never said anywhere that I think this sort of thing happens that often nor do I think it does . However, in this instance I think it's true.

At the beginning of the IGN review, the girl reviewer literally says "This is the best Pokemon game I have ever played, and I have played them all".

Let's see. SwSh is by far the shortest Pokemon game there is (took me 20 hours but 4-5 of those were in the Wild Area/Idle), they added great QoL upgrades (including stuff for the meta) only to cut out 60% of the Pokemon, it is by far the most linear Pokemon game out there, and there is next to no post game at all. Things that were in pretty much every other previous generation were cut out for SwSh.

But yeah, best Pokemon game ever and she's 'played them all' . Yeah, totally not getting paid to say that, especially with how polarizing the E3 announcement of this game was. And for the record, I still enjoyed the game, but it's likely the last mainline Pokemon game I will get unless they can actually bring in writers with a pulse and have a good plot for once. It's GameFreak tho, so not getting my hopes up.

People and their opinions, I swear.

I've seen a lot of love for this game on twitter, so maybe people like it regardless.

They don’t even need to bring in writers. Just cut out all of the gimmicky bullshite, don’t cut every starter but keep fricking Togepi, and make the game more like what made it legendary in the first place.

Boom. I’m available as an advisor, Gamefreak.
