50k isn't bad for a poli sci degree that's not a PhD.

Do you have an income problem or a spending problem?

1. If your mortgage is upwards of 1,050 you bought too much house.
2. Do you have a car note?
3. Do you have credit card debt?
4. Do you have student loans?

These factors will severely limit wealth building and cause you to live paycheck to paycheck.
Many are surprised when a higher income doesn't solve their financial problems.


ETA: with a $1,400 mortgage you're spending at least 40% of your net pay on housing. That's simply too much.
