I thought you were going to post about a Chromebook

yeah, maybe a little better specs than one of those.

I'm not a big gamer (anymore), but I still mess around with 3D graphics and use Iray at times. Also do some photography as a hobby, do some raw processing. So I had been building stuff in the past, had been able to make my older pc last quite awhile. Like, over a decade, with what at one time had been quite a horse of a system for the time. I think my main HD is beginning to go out on that, maybe mobo too. I figured it was time to let it expire gracefully and get a new configuration, and checked into this just for giggles before going to newegg and mwave (if that's still even open).

Hell, it's not a bad deal if you can find the walmart clearance stuff; I had seen where they had purged some 65" LG tvs for about $200 to some lucky souls. So I checked into it.

Go to Slickdeals, check in the Hot Deals in the forums, look up the 'walmart PC clearance megathread'.
LINK

Those prices are not the current, they are now lower. Use the brickseek links to check for local on those, and if it says "limited quantity" somewhere nearby, go up and ask. Have that link up on your phone, and show them the SKU you want (if they have it, I guarantee it's in the back).
I'm in BR, and got the desktop at the Cortana store. It's kinda common sense:
it's a big Walmart in a hood area, ain't nobody buying electronics for over $1K in there. But if it's listed, they had the stock, and they aren't advertising the drops in price. The manager has to open the cage in the back to check, and they don't know the price until they scan it.
This price surprised the shite out of the gal that got mine for me.

There's a few laptops I'm sorta curious about, didn't look for them. There's an HP Pavillion gamer rig, it lists for about $800, I got it for my son a couple years ago for about 600 on a deal from HP. The price on the link page says $399 for reference. The brickseek link shows "limited stock" at about 8 places nearby, for $249.

The HP Omen, list at over $1200, slickdeals link page says 599, brickseek says $399, and again lists 5-6 stores with "limited" stock. Specs on that are
HP Omen Gaming Laptop 15.6" Full HD, Intel Core i7-8750H, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Graphics, 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD, 16GB SDRAM

For $399, if you're even thinking of a laptop (beyond a chromebook of course), that sounds like it's worth the legwork to go pester the guy at the electronics desk to go check in the back.
Like I said, best plan might be to pick a walmart in a rough area where you don't think people will be dropping large sums of cash, go in during a quiet period, and get them to check.

The desktop, I was 1 for 4 on stores, two said they didn't have any left, 1 place said they had some but rang up at full price, and Cortana said "do you want a 2 yr replacement warranty for $30 with that?" Why, yes please. Thank you

How do you deal with Walmart employees who don’t know what their gun actually does and doesn’t see the product immediately in front of them?
