Unless u get the razor,
I have a Razor hd2 4.5-27 and a razor HD spotting scope.
I've been thrilled with both of these.
I bought the 4.5-27 used and simply because their warranty is danged near bulletproof.
Have been considering another in 3-18 but don't have a rifle to put it on yet.
Have been thinking about building a rifle in 6.5 PRC. If I do it will likely be a Deviant action with a proof carbon barrel.
It's down the road though.

I replaced with Meopta and have been very pleased since.
Ive been hearing alot of good things about Meopta. Vortex to me is kinda meh. good not great but nice prices so it is what it is
I would really like the new Optika 6 from Meopta, but double the price. Ordered the Leupold VX-R 3-4x40 Firedot to compare to the Vortex. On sale for 374.99

It went on the 1st bolt action rifle I've built. It's a 6.5 cm. Bighorn Origin action with a criterion 26" barrel and trigger tech special trigger.
I'm still playing with loads but have shot .316" groups at 100yds.

They put the 2.5-10x44 on sale today so if anyone wants a 4-16x50 for the sale price Midway had let me know. I'm just going to return it but would see if anyone needed it first.

Ruger35, you are buying the 2.5x10x44 rather than keeping the 4x16x50? Why is that...just curious.
Do you want to ship the scope to Houston?

I was thinking of it cause a lot of my hunting will be in timber so I'd like the lower magnification option. I even ordered a Leupold VX-R 3-9x40 with the illuminated reticle to compare all of them.
I don't mind shipping it if you want to split the shipping.

I bought a box of the ELD-X and the Berger hybrids to see if one will it shoot the other in accuracy.

If you are loading them yourself, remember that Berger is very picky about seating depth
On the berger website they have a formula for finding the correct seating depth:
quote:
Load 24 rounds at the following COAL if you are a target competition shooter who does not worry about jamming a bullet:
1. .010 into (touching) the lands (jam) 6 rounds
2. .040 off the lands (jump) 6 rounds
3. .080 off the lands (jump) 6 rounds
4. .120 off the lands (jump) 6 rounds
Load 24 rounds at the following COAL if you are a hunter (pulling a bullet out of the case with your rifling while in the field can be a hunt ending event which must be avoided) or a competition shooter who worries about pulling a bullet during a match:
1. .010 off the lands (jump) 6 rounds
2. .050 off the lands (jump) 6 rounds
3. .090 off the lands (jump) 6 rounds
4. .130 off the lands (jump) 6 rounds

Guess I should have specified, it's federal premiums with Berger hybrid bullets.

I’m in the market for another scope....how would you say this scope compares to a leupold vx-2?
I was trying to find another vx-2 but since they replaced them with the freedom line, they are hard to find.
I just want a simple scope without bdc or other markings....deer out to 200 yards.

Ah, they should most likely be fine.
Or you will completely hate the accuracy out of them.
When I was trying to find the depth on my AR-10, it went from .3" group to about 3" group at 100yds.

This scope is pretty clear, came in today. Just holding it eye relief seems a little off. Midway and Amazon both have the Leupold VX-R with illuminated reticle for $375, 3-9x40. I have read it's glass is the same as the VX3-I. It will come in tomorrow so I'll compare it to this Viper.
I'm in the same boat, every optic above a couple hundred dollars seems to have BDC reticles, dial turrets, all tacticool. I just want the best glass that stays zeroed. If you don't mind spending more money, check out the Meopta Optika6. That's what I really want, bit I haven't even rifle hunted in 10 years because I strictly bow hunt. I couldn't justify $600 on a scope I may not use that often when these Leupolds and Vortex optics are 250-375.

Vortex eye relief issues...this has been my experience bas well. Don't bother shipping. I don't need it anyway. Appreciate it though.
I'll be curious to hear your opinion of the Leupold. Let us know your thoughts once it is received

My money is on you keeping the VXR. Sweet scopes.

Decided to keep the VX-R. I liked the illuminated reticle, but looking at the same objects I felt like it had a clearer and more vivid sight picture than the Viper did even though the VX-R had a 40 inactive vs the Viper's 50mm. Hoping to test it out tomorrow and see how it performs suppressed.
