If he sticks at LSU, he will probably be the next OC when Steve Ensminger decides to retire in a few more years.
Nonetheless, Ed O isn't crazy enough to get rid of Steve Ensminger so soon to promote someone that doesn't nearly have the experience being an OC, QB coach, and play-caller that Steve Ensminger has. As it is Steve Ensminger who coached up Joe Burrow for this season.
Let him be mentored by Steve Ensminger a few years, then we will see if he is OC material and I hope he is and then sticks around until Ed O retires in about another seven or eight years to take Ed O's place.

I mean, he doesn’t have to be QB coach to be OC.
And at least Co-OC
It’s also Amazing how Ensminger remembered how to be a good QB coach exactly when Brady showed up.
Weird.
