Just bits and pieces but it sounds like part one could be signed Nov 17th.

china will put strict penalties on theft of IP in china and will reduce controls of ownership and mandatory swapping of IP.

looks like they will also buy alot of pork and soybeans.

I do hope existing tariffs remain til all IP cases pending in the US are resolved (I believe the fbi has over 500 relating to china), and future cases are limited. There has to changes in behavior BEFORE any tariffs are removed, not promises.

And I dont think we will ever resolve the govt subsidizing their companies, half their economy is owned by the govt.

Then they aren't worth trading with without massive tariffs. frick the Chinese manipulating the market. If they want to sell to us without tariffs then they have to stop manipulating, overproducing, and dumping. It's as simple as that.

African swine fever hit Chinese pig farms last year, causing a severe shortage in the meat that is a staple for hundreds of millions of Chinese households

Thanks. I knew that they were the world's largest producer of pork but didn't realize the disease issue.

Anyone who produces protein of any kind is making a mint because of the pig ebola in china, its driving up all meat prices, not just pork.

But china produces more pork than the rest of the world combined and they estimate they will lose half their pigs, thats a heck of a lot of pork.

There dumping and manipulating the markets of various products is a huge issue, but its also industries that employ half the population, they have been forced to cut back due to the inefficiencies in the state run companies and have laid off who knows how many people, causing a lot of unrest already. Couple that with the inflation due to the pig problem, and the devaluation of the yuan due to govt manipulation, and a real estate bubble the world has never seen before, and the HK problem. Well the trade dispute, as bad as it is hurting them, is down the list on issues, they have a lot of problems and Xi personally is feeling the heat internally.

China would literally starve to death if they didn’t buy US Ag products whereas the US keeping the tariffs another week or so isn’t exactly a big deal for us.

There is no question who has the power in these negotiations, and while they are making big concessions, all we are giving up in return is just holding off from punching them in the face again.

Boom. Well said, in layman's terms, and simple to understand. This is the truth. Have an upvote.

That is not true---China would not starve without US ag products BUT why force the citizens to pay more for pork when there is a surplus in the USA and one of if no the largest pork company in the USA is Chinese owned?

If selling our bacon to China causes that blue line to spike there will be noticeable discontent.
