In fricking Oklahoma no less... At a private school.
Yes, folks, instead of George Washington or Thomas Edison or Abe Lincoln, schools are now making kids read and learn and lionize a communist anti-American Mexican and a known atheist scientist who said humanity was basically a virus, just waiting to anihalate itself.
Good times we live in. I'm sure the teacher is such a wonderful, principled person.

Are you suggesting that the only people kids should learn about are those that YOU agree with in every capacity? They're not learning to worship those figures, they're learning ABOUT them. Learning the facts about someone's life does not indoctrinate them to those beliefs.

At least you are aware of what they're doing ... imagine some parents don't even know. Teach them what you want them to know. I sure wouldn't rely on the school.

Caesar Chavez and his farm labor goons used to go to the border to attack camps of illegal aliens who were in this country to take jobs from members the United Farm Workers Union.

Just put your own conservative spin on it

How about next report on Mao, or Pol Pot, or Idi Amin?
World historical figures, right?

They are certainly being taught to worship Cesar Chavez.

It’s WHAT they’re learning about various figures that can push a worldview. I don’t know if that’s happening here or not, but then neither do you.

Those are two pretty important people totally appropriate for a book report. Unless it was actually “instead of” George Washington and the like but that seems unlikely. You sound like a snowflake.

You’re right to be mad about Chavez. But getting your panties in a wad over learning about hawking is crazy

Perfect opportunity for your nephew to drop some truth. Write a factual report on Chavez.
My daughter had a BS assignment like that when she was in fourth grade. I directed her to write the truth. She made an A with no comment.

Bullshiite.
What do you suppose they are being told about their lives?

It's almost like you believe that.

She had every fact footnoted and it was impeccable. No lie. I basically wrote the paper in protest.

And they have for the last 40 years. Those 60's-70's street agitators are now our teachers, professors and authors, etc.

It's really sad that you don't, have you been indoctrinated into every person's beliefs who you have learned about?
