I look at it this way.
I own a boat. I finish my trip and thank the crew for a job well done. I now plan take take my ship on a new trip. I hire a new crew that is capable.
The crew on board changes but it’s still the same ship.
The players change but it’s still the Lakers.

Yes, it is still your boat. Just like how when your team replaces a player, a true fan generally doesn't jump ship.
Your user name is NawlinsTiger. If the Tiger is for LSU, how do you square this with thinking you can't be a fan if players constantly change? At LSU, players are always being completely replaced.

If you've had that boat your entire life and had a great many of awesome adventures during your life, you really don't know the answer is to the question of what is your connection to that boat?
