How about this idea. For every infraction, we play one game were it doesn't exist. So we have a no holding game just to see what the game would look like when players have a chance to abuse the system. Then a no PI game. Then we would either learn to appreciate the system as is, or figure out ways to improve it.



eta: That no roughing the passer and no late hit games are going to be interesting.

That's stupid. No one is saying holding shouldn't be a penalty. It just shouldn't be 10 yard penalty.

For offensive holding, I kind of like spot of foul and loss of down. If the holding is past the line of scrimmage it is just loss of down.

For defensive holding, 5 yards, replay the down. If it is in the endzone, 10 yards and automatic first down.
