I'm a little let down by the 1/4 mile time. With the rear weight bias, wicked quick tranny, chunky torque curve and quick 0-60 time I was expecting near .5 seconds quicker with a higher trap. Maybe there is a shift close to the beams or the extra weight is holding it back. It just seems odd for it to get gapped by 4 doors like the M5 and E63S.

In the end, it is still a huge bargain, even if as tested it was near $90k.

To each his own....

Base C8 is faster than a 992 C2S at half the price, personally I think that's impressive for the base model. 992 C2S price as tested was $151k.

A $151,000 check would probably get a ZR1 Vette and then some. That car is going to be.....interesting.

I am on the record as saying it is a whale of a performance bargain, full stop. I wasn't attempting to be negative. My only issue is where is it losing from 60 to the 1/4. 4400-pound sedans with slower 0-60 times are driving around it and putting over a bus length on it by the 1/4 mile beams. Those cars have almost the exact same power to weight ratio, larger frontal area and similar Cd. In the original launch thread, I said the 0-60 time of 3.0 seemed conservative and expected the car rags to show 2.7-2.8 but I predicted a faster 1/4 ET and trap. I am not remotely suggesting 11.1 is a slow ET in general and especially for a (stock) car under $100k but there is something unusual going on between 60 and 123 in that test car. I think we are going to see 10.8s out of them or someone will identify where the missing ET is going.

BTW ain't nobody speccing a 992 C2S at over $150k that is getting too close to Turbo money. It is one of the typically loaded Porsche press models. However, I bet the average C8 Stingray will be specced at ~$80k LT3/Z51/FE4 is $79k. There is ZERO doubt the C8 is a much better performance bang for the buck than a 911 so was the C7 and C6 and...

I really like a lot about the C8 and it looks even better in the metal than in pictures. If I wanted to be negative I would have talked about the ridiculous amount of impossible to correct understeer and the issues with brake feel that the on-track reviewers are relaying.
