Yeah, but I'm not sure many people want to turn of all notifications in case of a true emergency happening, like a family emergency or something, and someone needing to contact you in the middle of the night.

Most smart phones also have the options to allow phone calls from certain individuals to ring, or if they call multiple times in a few minutes.

It’s not a blanket on/off

don’t all smartphones now have a Do not Disturb setting that will mute any notification?

My phone has been on do not disturb from 10pm- 7am for years. It’s great. No one can call (unless they call over and over) and texts don’t ding until after 7am. Improved quality of life dramatically. That phone is not there for other’s convenience; it’s there for your convenience.

I get called in the middle of the night for work sometimes so I have to leave mine on most of the time. It sucks.

All texts are silent 100% of the time for me. Everyone knows if it requires a faster response, to just call. It can be anywhere from minutes to hours before I respond to text, depending on the day.

I don't care when you text me because I sleep with my phone on silent. Never could understand people who don't put their phone on silent to sleep and then bitch when a text wakes them.
