Is the PSAT a good option for someone to take?

I’m considering recommending it because aren’t the merit scholarships pretty valuable?

But, it doesn’t count does it?

It's not as good as the SAT but in a pinch it will do

Make sure to get a 5.99 takeout special large two topping at Dominos tonight. It's the last night of the special.

I took it in High School. I don’t remember anything about it.

What's that have to do with the Dominos takeout special?

What does the Dominos special have to do with the PSAT?

It is the National Merit Qualifying Exam for high school juniors, for everyone else it is pretty much practice.

Being a National Merit Finalist means scholarships at many universities.

I assume your DAT went only okay, based on your waitlisting. You should have spent more time studying for it during your summer at the beautiful college where you tried to steal girls who had boyfriends.

Better spent would have been time in the books eating takeout Dominos.

My DAT was fine for the school I ended up applying to.

I made the wrong call.

My hands were too small for football, too big for dentistry, but I think they’re the right size for something.

I guess Ecclesiastes is right.

It goes on your permanent record. Kind of like when you and Ray-Ray were caught giving each other mutual handies.

Yes, it's a great option.

It can qualify you for incredible National Merit / Achievement scholarships, and at worst it's great practice for the SAT.

No reason for college-bound students not to take it.

The test is fairly inexpensive—$16 I think, and you qualify for National Merit as well as other merit scholarships. Colleges will start courting you and it’s excellent practice for the SAT. It makes the most sense to take it if you can.

At my high school we just took it one day. It wasn't optional.

It's a screening test for National Merit scholarships. If you do well they invite you to apply. You still have to take the SAT to qualify. A lot of high schools do this automatically. They shuffled us all into a room one day and took the PSAT. Those who scored high enough continued the process.

I loved taking it. I caught on to the homework is busywork to justify teaching jobs con so my GPA wasn't great. The PSAT and athletics got me an early admission offer from a private college. The ACT/SAT opened up D1 colleges. (The clearinghouse back then used a sliding scale that made my shitty GPA acceptable because of my high test scores.)
