Why? They'd probably promote Byrnes and be just fine. Even if it weren't him, they have an excellent roster, farm system, and player development team in place to continue to do what they're doing. It's not like Friedman brought a championship to LA.

It would sustain on it’s own for a while but I would definitely be concerned they would fall back behind the curve if he left. He put that entire framework in place.

Friedman is the structure. Hes the player development. I have no idea how byrnes, who would be the replacement, would continue. It's a risk. I think his time in Arizona looks fine in hindsight, I dont remember much of his time in san Diego.
Friedman has built this monster thats poised to compete for the next 15 WS, I dont know if Byrnes will do the same
