1 week in the South of France

Starting to plan a trip for a friends wedding in the Amalfi Coast and looking to do a week in the South of France prior. It will be 2 couples.
Provence is definitely on the list because the lavender fields will be in bloom, plus want to do a day trip to the Chateauneuf-du-pape wineries.
I figure that will take half the week, looking for recommendations for the other half. Saint-Tropez? Cannes? Nice? Monaco?

You could probably do 2-3 days on the Cote d'Azur. All of those towns you mentioned are going to be very expensive, but there are some smaller villages that might fit your bill. Hell, let me rephrase, the South of France in Summer is going to be shockingly expensive.
Now, for the lavender fields and Chateauneuf du Pape, those are going to be a decent hike from the coast. CDP is about 3 hours+ by car from Nice, and that is taking the Autoroute. So when ready to head up into the Haut Provence, I'd recommend picking a different city to base operations out of. The Abbey de Notre Dame de Senaque (the super famous photo of lavender fields) is very close tot he town of Gordes. And from Gordes you can be in CdP in about 45 minutes. You will probably need a car but with two couples this is very doable.
ETA: You might also want to look into spending some time in the Gorges de Verdun. We had small children with us so we opted not to visit, but it is a gorgeous canyon and reservoir system and a playground for hiking, kayaking, etc...

Why not explore the Campania area prior to the wedding? You could spend a few days in Naples, visit the islands of Capri and Ischia, then head to the Amalfi coast for the wedding.
I'm one of those travelers that likes to explore more thoroughly/deeply. So I'd use a wedding in Amalfi as a good reason to climb Vesuvius, go to Herculaneum, visit the Phlegran fields/Pozzuoli, Ischia, Capri, and maybe drive down to Paestum before the festivities kick in.

Great info. Yea we are thinking of spending time in Provence, and then picking up and moving to the coast for the second half of the week before flying out of Nice. I mentioned all the coastal towns but we only plan on doing 1 of them. Possibly a day trip to another.
Yea we realize this, but with the use of credit card points and already have free flights, we will make it work.
This sounds like the ticket for Provence. Definitely going to get a driver to make that drive because we are huge CDP wine fans.

We have been to those areas before on a previous trip. While in Amalfi we will rent a boat do a day trip to and around Capri.

A poster after my own heart. The tasting availability and experience can be hit or miss but I love it there. Only had time to pop into La Nerthe on last visit.
And don't forget Gigondas, Vacqueryas, etc... all right there also. In fact, I found the red wines of the Luberon and the Vaucluse, few of which make it out, to be pretty good wines. We rented a really bad arse house just below the walls of Gordes with a swimming pool set amidst the olive grove and a view of the whole valley. Pretty spectacular place to spend an afternoon after visiting small hill towns in the morning.

This sounds like exactly what we are looking for. Do you mind sending me an email of a link? nolatiger24@yahoo.com

I just went to look for it, and it doesn't appear to be on the market, but there are a bunch of other ones that are and appear to have similar views, pools, etc... Sorry, not trying to keep it secret like the Tuscan villa in Seinfeld.

Bandol France
Rented a place in Sanary-Sur-Mer (5km or so from Bandol) and walked over to Bandol for some wine.
A cruise of the Calanaques is beautiful.
