Ok folks need your opinion. Looking for a new pair of boots.
Wants
1. Rubber
2. Well insulated
3. Comfortable, but durable
Looking at Lacrosse Alpha 1000g
Muck woody pro
Any other suggestions for N Louisiana hunting with cold feet?

I tried on the lacrosse and mucks but found the Irish setters more comfortable. However, even though they are insulated with 1200g my feet are colder than with my danner pronghorns that have less thinsulate.

Make sure when you are trying them on you take time to articulate your foot up and down. Bought a good pair of Lacrosse and they were so stiff you can’t bend them behind your Achilles’ tendon area. Too darn stiff. Loved everything about them but that. Very uncomfortable in a deer blind. Good luck with your search

Try them all on before you buy.

Most comfortable pair I had were Cabelas Duratrax. Cabelas quit making them. I bought the Lacrosse. Read too many bad reviews on the Irish setters. Didn’t try Muck but they seem to sell a lot.

The more I read reviews the more frustrated I get. Seems like the big name boots all have the same problems. Sole of the boot separating from the boot at a early time frame

I have a pair of muck field blazers in 12 and woody max in 13. I wear the hell out of the field blazers most of the year and have been happy with the fit and wear.

You like those Danner pronghorns?

Love them. Used them in Montana the past 2 years and In Mississippi. One pair of good socks and my feet are never cold. Also, they are very light compared to my lacrosse boots of the same style. They feel like wearing tennis shoes when walking several miles

You were hunting from a stand with these? I’m looking into a pair but i mostly stand hunt and my feet always freeze in the rubber boots.

That’s why I quit wearing the rubber boots. My feet stay warmer in the leather ones. Unless I have to cross some water I wear the danners exclusively. Montana is a lot of walking and some sitting out in the open. Mississippi is hunting from boxes

How do they run, size wise.

Sounds crazy.. but i had a pair of frogg togg neoprene upper and 1200g lower rubber boots the past 7 yrs. Used in ohio, kentucky, missouri, and mississippi in 10degs-40deg rain, sleet, and snow.. hands down best boots ive every owned in my life. Struggled with freezing feet for 30yrs til i found these. One pair of wool socks, and good to go. Finally cracked after last season, even though discontinued, i found some for sale brand new on ebay for $75. And got another pair ready to go.

wear whatever. bring new pair of socks and warm slippers to change when you get the stand: profit.

Last season I bought some Dryshod ultra hunt boots and love them. Supposably the owner was part of the Muck Boot line and makes a better boot. I had Mucks before and they lasted me a long time. Don’t get a boot that fits tight for cool weather hunting, your feet need to breathe.
