I carry a Glock 19. I carry it because it's reliable, I shoot it accurately, and I get 15-17 rounds depending on magazine. I also carry it because I carried one around Afghanistan and Iraq for years without a single issue. Many others I know with similar experience did the same.
It doesn't need to be a Glock 19. Most high-quality semi-autos will do, depending on what the individual is looking for.

I personally hate the ergonomics of glocks. They are, however, fantastic firearms.
Love my HK vp9 though. 5.7 a close second.
