For a heavy or super 3-5 is the standard (I was referring to the A380 or 777). Obviously, a 737 is not going to have nearly that much space in-trail, but if a 737 needs the full 10,000', something went wrong.

Again, its not like these runways are pumping 70-80 operations an hour. It is closer to 30 at the peak.

yep, a landing aircraft usually doesn't need a whole lot of concrete to land, the newer 737s typically have pretty high ref speeds to avoid tail strikes, don't think they can stretch that thing out any more

We use NMiles for aircraft in the air. The 2 and 3 minute rules are for departing a/c
