I realize you’re trying a “gotcha” but the question was related to historical data, which Belichick says he doesn’t take into account. He’s focused on what’s going on in the here and now, not on what some team did 40 years ago.

Bill is referring to real analytics...not low-level garbage like calculating the mean of defensive rankings.
