I really liked Prometheus, but most on this board hated it (and I mean HATED it). One of their gripes was that it didn't make much sense and didn't answer many questions. But in reality, it did and they just didn't like the answers at all (similar to Lost).

I thought it was cool, and really good, and very entertaining.

I won't argue that Covenant was very good though.

A better way to put this is that it asked and answered questions that no one was asking or asking to be answered. That was the big problem.

People who get wrapped up in mystery and secrets - love this sort of stuff "Oh I didn't of that question! How clever. Oh! And THAT'S the answer!!! I never would have thought it would go that way."

It's fake mystery and meaning built on a manipulation of the audience. Both Prometheus and Lost did it well. And it works for some people. I'd say people who generally like consistent narratives with deeper more connected meaning are often frustrated by this approach.

And the stupid characters right? How many memes, YouTube comedy sketches, and tropes were made from how the “scientists” acted in that movie?
