My uncle(my mom's younger brother) refuses to talk to me or meet up with me and another cousin I have because we are Trump supporters. My cousin who is 16 just had a letter to the editor op-ed published in his town's local newspaper about how he is volunteering for a local democrat politician's campaign because he is afraid of dying in a school shooting and wants to take on the NRA.
...I am trying to figure out how he knows I am a Trump supporter. I don't really do social media, and keep my politics to myself around family and co workers. Somehow he knows, I am guessing my mom told him.
He was in town for Comic Con and literally refused to meet up with me. I don't give a shite that he is a bleeding heart liberal, he is family. But I guess he doesn't feel the same way and puts politics above family.

I know exactly who the libs in my family are. They can’t help themselves on social media. I assume the ones who remain silent are conservative and don’t feel like taking any backlash.

My mom grew up in the Northeast in a very very wealthy white enclave in Connecticut. Nothing but limo liberals there. So naturally my mom's side of the family is all bleeding heart lib for the most part. But its funny because pretty much all my cousins except a few are all conservative Trump supporters now. I have 22 cousins on my mom's side and only 4 that I know of are libs. One of them is my cousin who got a teaching job in Boston and had to quit and move back home because she was so "disraught" over Trump winning and had a mental breakdown. I am not making that up.
My dad grew up in Baton Rouge and my entire dad's side of the family is conservative MAGA to the core. Not one lib.

I know right? The oldest cousin I have on my mom's side lives in NYC and is very MAGA. But she never posts politics on her instagram or anything. She too is being blackballed by my uncle.
It's not like we are hateful people or anything. But when her younger sister got married in Chattanooga a couple years ago, he pretty much ignored all of us there except the 2 lib cousins, one of which is the (former) Boston teacher, the other is gay. The other 2 liberal cousins I have are his twin sons.
I told my mom that is bullshite and that she should talk to him but all she did was defend his actions. "He just feels very strongly about his political beliefs". My mom is not a liberal but I think she just wants to protect her little brother.
