Yes, as said already, Jackson Hole will make you feel small in the world in a 30 minute drive from town. You all of a sudden are 2-3 miles from anything else with Grizzlies, Moose, and Wolves. A half day hike there can really take you completely away from society and immerse you in a different world.

Colorado is awesome but I never really feel any adrenaline to be "safe" when hiking there. Jackson Hole is just more rugged and wilderness-y to me. Its mostly just in your head, but having Grizzlies and Wolves and Moose and Buffalo helps, but the mountains are also just not as rolling and more dangerous feeling to me.

If you have time off then absolutely go OP. It will be a different vacation then a summer trip. But there's a ton to do and I can assure you you will have a great time. Just be flexible with the weather. If its late April you'll have some warm days and be able to do some hiking.

This makes no sense.

Could not be more wrong. Any hiking will be with snow shoes.

If you want to hike up to alpine lakes, early August is the soonest I would visit Jackson Hole. If you're going to visit Jenny Lake, I would plan take the ferry across and hike up Cascade Canyon. I agree with the guy that recommended Green River lakes earlier. Give yourself enough time to hike to the upper lake.
