We've decided on a whim to take Friday off and go to Nashville. I was able to get a decent deal on a hotel at the Hayes Street Hotel. It looks like it's walking distance to both Vanderbilt and downtown.

That said, what are your plans? Are there any pre-game parties, tailgates, or events scheduled? Does Nashville have an active LSU alumni association? If so, will they have any pre or post-game events?

Is it a 3 night minimum stay at the 4-5* hotels? Had a friend say that they pd $300.00 per night beginning on Thursday to watch the bulldogs play Vandy

The Nashville Alumni association is one of the largest in the country. They usually have pretty great events set up for every LSU game. I don't live there anymore but I imagine they'll be going all out this time.

The facebook page usually has their events, looks like they've got quite a lot planned this weekend:

I got a deal through a family friend in the hospitality business. Hence the "on a whim" part. We initially crossed this game off our list because of the 11 AM kickoff and high hotel prices.

FYI...

Fans in the Nashville area will have the opportunity to meet an all-star lineup of LSU head coaches Friday, September 20. The group will be part of the TAF Coaches Caravan that will make a tour stop at the popular Nashville venue, Redneck Riviera, as part of the weekend’s events surrounding LSU football’s game against Vanderbilt.

The event, which is free and open to the public and media, runs from 3 to 6 p.m. and will feature men’s basketball coach Will Wade, women’s basketball coach Nikki Fargas, gymnastics coach DD Breaux, softball coach Beth Torina and baseball coach Paul Mainieri.

Me and the wife opted for an AirBnB right outside of downtown. It was $90 per night and a two night minimum and we will just use Uber/Lyft a couple times. Going Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday morning.

With money I’m saving, I booked a table at Rodizio Brazilian Grill for Friday night.

This is gonna be a great fricking road trip and not a bad drive from western NC.

Not to burst your bubble, but I believe that may be a chain restaurant.

Okay and?

We don’t have one where we live so it will be a new experience. The other Brazilian steakhouse there is Texas De Brazil. Been there, done that.

Just giving you a heads up. I’m sure it’s good; I just wanted to let you know should you want to go a local, Nashville place.

ETA: LSU fans in Tennessee, what would be a better spot for pizza on Friday? 5 Point pizza or Desano?

Also, I see there are two 5 Point pizza? I assume the one in the 5 Point neighborhood is the original and/or best?

Yeah it’s cool and wasn’t trying to be an arse. We will do the local “hot chicken” on Saturday night and a breakfast spot on Sunday.

There are a lot of great breakfast places; but if you want great food and a unique place, I’d recommend Monell’s in Germantown area for Sunday breakfast/brunch. Good food served family style. I also really like Biscuit Loves Brunch in the Gulch (there are a couple other locations now too, I believe). Just my 2 cents.

Got a friend that is getting in town around 11:30 and doesn’t have tickets. Any suggestion of best spots to watch the game?

Both are great and I used to go to both often when I lived in Nashville. However, I’m driving up Thursday and have already told my wife that we are going directly to Desano.

Just a note...Desano doesn’t allow any modifications to the pizzas. Also, the stromboli’s at 5 Points are my favorite.
