If you don't need any cushion then they're great. My friend ran the Palisades 100 miler in Idaho mtns (20k ft up and... same back down) in them and said they were great.

I haven't really put the 4.0s to the test. Just some 8-10 milers with decent elevation, rocky/dusty Montana single track. They felt great.

Ironically I f'ed up my ankle after a few week running break by just slowly jogging 20miles over two days in Gulf State park in road shoes. I have to be careful these days and really work back into it and do my PT and strengthening.
